The provision of Micro-credit is an effective approach
to fighting chronic poverty. It provides small collateral free loans
to support self-employment amongst the poorest. They invest these
loans in their micro-enterprises, generating income for their families
and, in time, more employment within their communities. This results
in better nutrition, improved housing and access to education and
health care - in a word: self-sufficiency.
